A 15-year-old boy was shot and killed as he watched a fight Tuesday evening in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

Martese Gentry was watching a fight between two girls about 5:35 p.m. in the 1400 block of South Millard when a gunman approached and opened fire, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was shot in the chest and abdomen.

Gentry, of the 800 block of South Kedzie, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 6:12 p.m., authorities said.
