A man described by police as a “transient” sexually abused a teenage girl with whom he was acquainted earlier this month in northwest suburban Woodstock.

Early Thursday, Erik M. Hildebrand was brought in for questioning and ultimately charged with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to Woodstock police.

On June 11, police began investigating the 38-year-old after the victim, a girl older than 13 but younger than 17, said she was sexually assaulted by Hildebrand, a man she knew, a statement from police said.

Hildebrand, whom police called a transient Woodstock resident, was being held at the McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility awaiting a bond hearing.
