Chicago got on its feet at tonight’s opening of “On Your Feet!” the world-premiere Broadway-bound musical based on the life story of Gloria and Emilio Estefan. The standing ovation at curtain call was as much for the ridiculously talented cast as it was for theridiculously talented Estefans, who joined the ensemble for a red rose-festooned bow.
The musical, directed by Jerry Mitchell (“Kinky Boots”), with a book by Alexander Dinelaris (“The Bodyguard Musical”), music and lyrics by theEstefans,and choreography by Sergio Trujillo (“Memphis,” “Jersey Boys”), stars Ana Villafane (“South Beach” on Hulu) as Gloria Estefan and Josh Segarra (“Sirens” on USA) as Emilio.
