Police are warning South Side residents after a couple tried to lure a 14-year-old girl into their car Thursday morning in the Washington Park neighborhood.

The girl was walking to school near 60th and Rhodes about 8 a.m. when a couple inside a car pulled alongside her and asked if she wanted a ride, according to a community alert from Area Central detectives.

She refused and immediately told a school crossing guard. The suspects drove off when they saw her approach the guard, police said.

The driver was described as a black woman about 30 with long hair, medium complexion, and wearing a light blue scrub top. The passenger was described as a 35-year-old black man with a light complexion, wearing a do-rag and black sweater.

They were driving a black four-door sedan, possibly a Chevrolet, police said.

Anyone with information should call detectives at (312) 747-8380.
