A 53-year-old man was shot dead Sunday evening in the South Austin neighborhood on the West Side.

Officers responding to a call of shots fired about 7:10 p.m. in the 4900 block of West Lake found him on the street with gunshot wounds to the back, police said.

Donald Hall of the 4800 block of West Race was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he died at 7:58 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Police said the shooting may have been gang-related.

The attack happened just minutes before another fatal shooting nearby in the 100 block of North Cicero.
