Motorcyclist snags license plate of hit-and-run driver who hit him in Logan Square

Stephen Kraniotis went flying through the air when a car pulling a U-turn hit his motorcycle Saturday afternoon in Logan Square.

“I did a classic tuck and roll,” said Kraniotis, who, after realizing he wasn’t injured, noticed the bumper — license plate still attached — had fallen off the car that hit him before the driver took off.

Kraniotis, 27, gave it to the police. They told him the owner of the car lives only a few blocks from where the accident happened at 2:10 p.m. on Milwaukee Avenue just east of Sacramento Avenue.

“It was an open-and-shut case,” said Kraniotis, who lives in Noble Square and works as a research technician at Northwestern University.
