Jackson got a kick out of spotting the Oscar nominee getting his barbecue fix at Chicago Q on Sunday night. … Father’s Day wasn’t the only thing being celebrated in Chicago Sunday — especially at RM Champagne Salon. Back in town filming the second season of the Fox hit “Empire,” show creator Lee Daniels and star Gabourey Sidibe (who also played the title role in Daniels’ Oscar-nominated “Precious” film) threw a 32nd birthday bash for “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett at the West Loop restaurant. Also on hand for the festivities were “Empire” cast members Trai Byers, Bryshere Y. Gray, Kaitlin Doubleday, Grace Gealey, Ta’Rhonda Jones and AzMarie Livingston. … Siblings and acting successes Joan and John Cusack were spied dining at Japonais by Morimoto the other evening. Ditto (separately) for the Bulls Jimmy Butler. … While in town recently, Chicago native and proud Czech-American Kim Novak and her husband, Robert Malloy, headed out to Cicero to dine on an authentic Bohemian meal at Klas, the longtime Czech restaurant in the Near West suburb. … Speaking of things from Central Europe, Emil Viklicky, known as the “Janacek of Jazz,” will bring his modern jazz — with a Moravian twist — to the Arts Center of Oak Park, beginning at 7 p.m. on June 26. Viklicky is a well-known Czech jazz musician and composer who is developing a fan base in Chicago and throughout the U.S. … The Cubs’ Travis Wood, Jason Hammel and Jason Motte tried somewhat of a different “sport” — having fun at the WhirlyBall in Bucktown, where they played Laser Tag as well as WhirlyBall. … Recent Underground sightings included our celebrating Stanley Cup winning Blackhawks Jonathan Toews, Duncan Keith, Kris Versteeg, Corey Crawford and Scott Darling. … Darling, along with Patrick Kane, happily continued the ongoing celebration (that will last all summer!) at the Chicago Cut Steakhouse.
