Charlie Sheen leaped back into the headlines Sunday with a bizarre Father’s Day rant on Twitter blasting ex-wife Denise Richards but praising another long-troubled ex, Brooke Mueller.

First Sheen tweeted, “Brooke M is a sexy rok star whom I adore. D Richards a heretic washed up piglet. Shame pile. Happy Father’s Day!!!”

It’s unclear what provoked Sheen’s latest outburst (later deleted), but it appears it may be tied to his not seeing the daughters he fathered with Richards: Sam and Lola.

In a follow-up tweet, he wrote, “Father’s Rights! I INSIST we devour the mendacity of these ‘kidnapping’ D Richards ‘types’ & bring justice to ‘us.’”

However, taking the high road, Richards responded with her own tweet, “Happy Dad’s Day! @charliesheen have a great trip in Mexico! Kids were disappointed u weren’t here for it- Hey we’ll celebrate when u r back!”

Later, she retweeted a message that said, “Negative people have a problem for every solution. Ignore them if you can,” adding, “Yup ain’t that the truth.”

Back in 2013, it was Richards who actually took over the care of Sheen’s twins, Bob and Max, when officials at the California Department of Children and Family Services determined Mueller, the boys’ biological mother, maintained an “unsafe environment” for the children, due to her highly publicized battles with drugs.

Recently, it seems Mueller has been maintaining her sobriety and obviously is on better terms with Sheen.

• Oh, and by the way, in the midst of his wild tweeting of foul-language zingers at Richards, Sheen managed to also insult the town where she grew up in our western suburbs.

Per Mr. Sheen via Twitter (before it was deleted): “This lab rat is from a retarded [expletive] hole named ‘Downers Grove.’ ”
