Woman, two teens shot in West Chatham

A woman, a boy and a girl — both 14 — were shot in the West Chatham neighborhood on the South Side Tuesday night.

The three were in the 8000 block of South Stewart at 11:40 p.m. when someone inside a passing white vehicle fired shots toward them, police said. The motivation for the shooting was unknown early Tuesday, police said.

The woman, 41, was shot in the shoulder and taken to Stroger Hospital, where her condition was stabilized, police said. The boy was also at Stroger in good condition, with graze wounds to his arm and chest, police said.

A 14-year-old girl, shot in the back, was taken to University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital. Her condition was stabilized, police said.

Minutes earlier, three other people were shot five blocks north on the same street.
