Sources close to Mariah Carey tell me they are concerned the diva — not yet officially divorced from estranged husband Nick Cannon — has headed into a new romantic relationship way too soon.

“She’s moving too fast,” a longtime associate of Carey’s in the music biz told me early Wednesday. “It seems she’s fallen hard for [billionaire James] Packer, but I think she’s just been swept off her feet by the guy’s power, immense wealth and personal charm.”

Another friend agreed. “Mariah is such a romantic, but she should go slow here. She’s not even divorced from Nick!”

The musical superstar has been cruising with Packer on his huge yacht, and TMZ reports the new couple are already talking about marriage, even though they’ve only been dating for a matter of days.

Packer reportedly has been intrigued by Carey for a long time and has been with her virtually non-stop since hooking up with her at one of her Vegas concerts, less than two months ago.

Said to be the seventh richest Australian, Packer is reportedly worth more than $6 billion and is heir to a publishing and broadcasting fortune.
