Eight people were wounded in separate shootings Wednesday across Chicago.

Most recently, a man was shot in the West Side Austin neighborhood. The 20-year-old was walking on the sidewalk in the 4600 block of West Washington about 10:35 p.m. when he heard gunshots and felt pain, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound to his buttocks. His condition had stabilized.

About 5 p.m., a man was shot in the West Elsdon neighborhood on the Southwest Side. The man, 20, was shot in the leg in the 3700 block of West 59th Street, police said. The shooting may have been a drive-by. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in fair condition.

Less than 30 minutes earlier, a man was shot in the Hermosa neighborhood on the Northwest Side. The 23-year-old was shot in the right ankle about 4:35 p.m. in the 1600 block of North Kildare, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.

About the same time, a man was seriously wounded in a shooting in the South Shore neighborhood. The 22-year-old was shot in the mouth and lower knee about 4:35 p.m. in the 7400 block of South Kingston, police said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition.

At 4:08 p.m., a man was shot in the West Pullman neighborhood on the Far South Side. The 24-year-old was shot in the left hand and left leg in the 900 block of West 116th Place, police said. He was taken to Christ Medical Center, where his condition stabilized, police said.

Earlier Wednesday, a man was shot in the Albany Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side. The man, 58, told police he was leaving a bar in the 4000 block of West Lawrence about 1:45 a.m. when he felt pain in his leg, then realized he’d been shot, police said. He said he didn’t hear gunfire. Ali Baba Hookah Cafe is the only late-night establishment located on that block. The man was listed in fair condition at Community First Medical Center, police said.

At 12:34 a.m., a 23-year-old man was shot in the buttocks in the Old Town neighborhood on the Near North Side. Three people walked up to the man in the 400 block of West Blackhawk and fired shots toward him before running off, police said. He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said. A source said he is a documented gang member.

Wednesday’s first shooting happened in the Fuller Park neighborhood on the South Side. About 12:05 a.m., a 20-year-old man suffered a graze wound to the foot in the 300 block of West 42nd Street, police said. He declined medical treatment for the injury and didn’t cooperate with investigators on the specifics of the attack.
