Man shot in neck in Evanston

A man was shot while sitting in his vehicle in north suburban Evanston late Wednesday.

The shooting happened about 11:20 p.m. in the 1800 block of Leland Avenue, according to a statement from Evanston police.

The 32-year-old Evanston resident was sitting in his parked vehicle when a gold vehicle pulled up next to his, and a black male with braided hair asked for his name before firing two shots, police said. The gold vehicle then drove off westbound on Emerson Street.

The 32-year-old was shot once in the neck and taken to Evanston Hospital, police said. His injury is not considered life-threatening.
