An Arlington Heights attorney was arrested Tuesday after a search turned up a collection of child pornography in his northwest suburban home, according to police.

James Crowley, 36, is charged with one felony count of possession of child pornography, according to Arlington Heights police Capt. Miguel Hernandez.

Authorities started investigating after receiving a tip from the Cook County state’s attorney’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which was submitted through the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Hernandez said.

Crowley was arrested after police searched his home in the 1400 block of East Central Road in Arlington Heights, which investigators linked to an IP address from the tip, Hernandez said.

Officers also seized a laptop, several external hard drives, jump drives, CDs and DVDs, which were all found to contain images of child porn, many with images of children under 13, police said.

Crowley, who works as an attorney in Chicago, appeared in bond court Wednesday and was ordered held on a $100,000 bond. He will next appear for a hearing at the Rolling Meadows courthouse on July 17.
