A man was shot and seriously wounded in the East Garfield Park neighborhood Thursday night on the West Side.

About 11:20 p.m., the 34-year-old was standing on the sidewalk in the 3200 block of West Congress when he heard gunfire and realized he’d been shot, police said.

The man was shot int he abdomen and armpit area and was taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.
