Two seriously hurt in South Shore fire

Two elderly people who were trapped in a South Side house fire were in serious-to-critical condition Sunday night.

The Chicago Fire Department responded to a home in the 7300 block of South Euclid about 7:30 p.m., Fire Media Affairs spokesman Jeff Lyle said. The report also said people were trapped inside.

A man in his 80s and a woman in her 70s were removed and taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in serious-to-critical condition, Lyle said.

The cause of the fire was not known Sunday night. Lyle said firefighters were finishing up on scene at 8:10 p.m. doing final searches.
