Bones that were discovered by a northwest Indiana resident over the weekend are those of an animal, according to the Lake County coroner’s office.

A homeowner in the 8100 block of East 4th Place in Hammond was digging and found bones about 8 a.m. Friday, according to a statement from the coroner’s office.
