Police are warning residents of northwest suburban Villa Park about ruse burglars who targeted an elderly man over the weekend.

A man knocked on the resident’s door near Terry Lane and Summit Avenue about noon on Sunday, according to Villa Park police.

He told the victim he needed a fence installed and lured him to his backyard while a second person entered the home and stole personal items, police said.

Anyone who experienced a similar incident or noticed anyone suspicious is asked to call police at (630) 592-6117.
