A woman was shot in the neck Tuesday afternoon in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

The shooting happened in the 1600 block of South Pulaski at 1:09 p.m., police News Affairs Officer Stacy Cooper said.

The 48-year-old woman was shot in the right side of the neck and taken in serious condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, Cooper said.

Police could not confirm scanner reports that the woman walked into a firehouse on that block after she was shot.
