A man killed in a drive-by shooting Sunday afternoon in the South Side Chatham neighborhood has been identified as a south suburban resident.

Odell Brown, 25, was standing outside in the 0-50 block of East 88th Street about 12:15 p.m. when a white van pulled up and someone inside opened fire, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Brown, of the 17600 block of Oakwood Drive in Hazel Crest, was shot three times in the abdomen and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:49 p.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

His death was ruled a homicide.
