Driver in Park Ridge crash released from hospital

The driver of a car that ran a red light and collided with another car Wednesday night in Park Ridge, injuring four people, has been released from the hospital.

About 11 p.m., a 1996 Chevrolet was speeding eastbound on Devon Avenue when it ran a red light at the intersection with South Cumberland Avenue and struck a northbound 2014 Audi, according to a statement from Park Ridge police.

After striking the Audi, the Chevrolet hit a tree and a light pole before coming to a rest on Devon, police said.

The 20-year-old Park Ridge man driving the Chevrolet, as well as his two passengers — an 18-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man — were all taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, police said. Both of the passengers were ejected from the car.

The driver has been released from the hospital as of Friday morning, police said. His two passengers remain in “critical but stable condition.”

The driver of the Audi, a 24-year-old Park Ridge woman, was taken to Resurrection Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. She has since been released.

Investigators have received several tips regarding the crash, but are still asking anyone with information to call police at (847) 318-5252.

The Park Ridge Police Department’s Major Crash Unit and the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team, a multi-jurisdictional agency, are investigating.
