Chicago Police issued an alert this week warning residents of the Far South Side Beverly neighborhood of a recent string of garage burglaries.

The suspects pry open the side doors of garages, or enter through unlocked doors, and steal bicycles, lawn equipment and tools, according to the community alert issued by Area South detectives.

Burglaries have occurred during late night and early morning hours in May in the 10300-10700 blocks of Leavitt and Artesian, police said.

Residents should be on the lookout for suspicious people walking in the neighborhood between midnight and 5 a.m., or looking into parked cars or backyards.

Anyone with information should call Area South detectives at (312) 747-8273.
