A 31-year-old man was shot in the leg late Thursday in the Wentworth Gardens neighborhood on the South Side.

About 11:15 p.m., he was walking near the intersection of Pershing and Wells when someone fired shots from a passing gray van, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized, Gaines said.
