A 27-year-old man was shot in the face late Thursday in the Washington Heights neighborhood on the South Side.

The shooting happened at 11:56 p.m. near 92nd and Laflin streets, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition stabilized, Gaines said.

Police initially said the person shot was a 17-year-old boy but later corrected that information.
