A 20-year-old Chicago man has been charged with a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred Tuesday in the West Englewood neighborhood.
Rashaad H. Jackson was identified as the driver of a black, 2002 Nissan Altima that fatally struck a 46-year-old male pedestrian, according to a statement from Chicago Police.
The crash occurred about 9:30 p.m. in the 6400 block of South Ashland, police said. The pedestrian was trying to cross Ashland Avenue when he was struck by the vehicle. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he later died, police said.
Jackson was charged with one count each of reckless homicide and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in a death, police said.
Jackson, of the 11600 block of South Racine, is scheduled to appear in bond court Monday.
