A 20-year-old Chicago man charged with a fatal hit-and-run crash Tuesday in West Englewood has been held on a $200,000 bond.

Rashaad H. Jackson was identified as the driver of a black, 2002 Nissan Altima that fatally struck a 46-year-old male pedestrian, according to a statement from Chicago Police.

The crash occurred about 9:30 p.m. in the 6500 block of South Laflin, police said. The pedestrian was trying to cross Ashland Avenue when he was struck by the vehicle. He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he later died, police said.

Jackson was charged with one count each of reckless homicide and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in a death, police said.

Jackson, of the 11600 block of South Racine, was ordered held on a $200,000 bond at a hearing Monday, court records show. He will be back in court for a preliminary hearing June 26.
