The Lake County coroner’s office is still trying to identify a bicyclist who was struck and killed last week in a hit-and-run crash in northwest Indiana.
The man, thought to be between 50 and 60, was riding a bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle in the 2100 block of Delaware Street in Gary, Ind., about 9 p.m. Wednesday, according to Gary police Sgt. Thomas Decanter and the Lake County (Ind.) coroner’s office.
He was taken to Methodist Hospital Northlake Campus in Gary, where he was pronounced dead at 10:24 p.m., according to the coroner’s office.
Decanter said witnesses described the vehicle as a newer model Chevrolet, but additional details were not available. No one is in custody.
The victim is described as a 5-foot-10, 200-pound black man with gray and black hair, and stubble on his face, police said.
He was wearing black jeans size 40-x-32, a beige and navy blue extra-large jacket, black windbreaker jacket, black and tan medium Hawaiian shirt with beige leaves, blue plaid boxer shorts, and black and white socks.
He was also wearing a black hat with “Attitude is Everything” in red, and Bandy II Ozark Train brown leather hiking boots in a size 12.
