An Uber driver fired shots at one of his passengers after the man threw a rock at his vehicle early Saturday in northwest suburban Rolling Meadows, police said.
Driver Marvin White, 44, picked up five passengers in the 3800 block of Central Road a few minutes before 3 a.m. Saturday, according to a statement from Rolling Meadows police.
Once they reached Owl Drive and Holly Lane, three of the passengers said they were getting out of the vehicle, police said. The vehicle stopped and one of the passengers, Alan Slawson, got into an argument with the driver.
Slawson got out and threw a large rock at White’s vehicle, shattering the moon roof, police said. White then pulled out a semi-automatic handgun, pointed it at Slawson and fired.
Slawson and two other passengers ran away, and White chased them and fired his weapon again, police said.
No one was struck by the bullets, police said. White has a concealed carry permit, but investigators reported the incident to Illinois State Police.
White, of the 1400 block of Lily Cache Lane in Bolingbrook, was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, police said. He was ordered held on a $75,000 bond.
Slawson, of the 3100 block of St. James Street in Rolling Meadows, was charged with felony criminal damage toproperty and ordered held on a $50,000 bond.
