A suspect in a burglary case has been charged with escaping from an electronic-monitoring program while awaiting trial.
Terry Mikkelson, 24, was arrested about 10 a.m. Tuesday at a motel in the 6100 block of North Jersey Avenue by members of the Cook County sheriff’s office’s Central Warrant Unit, police said.
Mikkelson was placed on electronic monitoring on May 28 for a burglary charge, the sheriff’s office said.
Since he had no place to stay, he was placed in alternative housing in Chicago, the sheriff’s office said. He left the next day and did not return.
Mikkelson is now being held at Cook County Jail and faces an escape charge, police said. He was also wanted for failing to appear for a June 3 court date.
Chicago Police have also been contacted about his arrest in regards to one of their ongoing investigations, the statement said.
