Man and boy shot in Austin

A man and a boy were shot Tuesday afternoon in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

The shooting happened in the 1800 block of North Monitor about 2:45 p.m., police said.

The victims, a 19-year-old man and boy whose age wasn’t immediately available as of 11 p.m., were taken to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park by family members, police said.

The man was shot in the arm and the boy was shot in his buttocks, police said. Both of their conditions were not known late Tuesday.

Police could not confirm scanner reports that the juvenile victim is 11 years old.
