A woman found dead at an Arlington Heights motel Thursday afternoon was stabbed to death by her boyfriend in a murder-suicide, police said.

Officers were called about 1 p.m. Thursday to the hotel at 441 W. Algonquin Road and found a man and a woman dead in their hotel room with “a large amount of blood” on the floor, according to a statement from Arlington Heights police.

Cecilia Perez, 41, and her boyfriend were found dead of multiple stab wounds and lacerations caused by a knife inside the locked room, police said.

Police said the incident was a murder-suicide in which the boyfriend killed Perez and then himself.

The man’s name is being withheld Friday afternoon pending notification of his family, police said.
