A 23-year-old man was shot in the Park Manor neighborhood Saturday night on the South Side.
About 9:40 p.m., he was sitting on the front porch of a home in the 7300 block of South Champlain when he heard shots and realized he had been struck in the calf, police said.
He was taken to Jackson Park Hospital in good condition.
Police initially said the shooting might have been accidental, but as of Sunday morning Area North detectives were investigating it as a battery with a firearm. No one is in custody.
