Authorities have identified a man who was shot to death late Friday in the same block of Grand Crossing on the city’s South Side where another man was fatally shot by a police officer the day before.
The shooting happened around 11:10 p.m. Friday, police said.
Officers responding to a call of shots fired in the 7500 block of South Langley found a 25-year-old man on a sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the chest.
The man, identified as Keith C. Dixon, was taken to Jackson Park Hospital, where he died of a gunshot wound to the chest, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. Dixon lived in the 600 block of East 76th Street.
Less than 24 hours earlier, police shot and killed a 27-year-old man who they say pointed a gun at them on the same block. It was one of two police-involved shootings from late Thursday to Friday afternoon.
