A 26-year-old man was shot while driving in the South Side Back of the Yards neighborhood Monday morning.

The man was driving a vehicle in the 4800 block of South Bishop about 11:15 a.m. when someone walked up and opened fire, striking him in the right arm, thigh and upper back, police said.

In an attempt to flee the shooter, the man then drove to the 1300 block of West 48th Place, where police were notified.

The victim, a documented gang member, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said. His condition has stabilized.
