A 17-year-old boy was shot while riding in a vehicle in the Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side Tuesday evening.

About 6:45 p.m., the teen was in a vehicle in the 6200 block of South Champlain when he heard shots and felt pain to his lower back, police said.

He was driven to the University of Chicago Medical Center and later transferred to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said. He was listed in critical condition.
