A professional boxer and three other people have been charged with the beatings of two people last week in West Town.
Semajay Thomas, 22, of the 700 block of North Throop was charged with one felony count of mob action and one misdemeanor count of battery, according to Chicago Police. Thomas is a professional boxer who is undefeated in his last six bouts.
Thomas and three others drove up in a vehicle in the 700 block of North Milwaukee about 12:50 a.m. on July 5, and threatened a 22-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man, police said.
One of the other men pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the man and woman while Thomas punched them, police said.
The man was taken to Saint Mary’s Hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening, police said.
James Thomas, 25, of the 1200 block of North Kedzie was charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, mob action, and a misdemeanor count of mob action, according to police. He is being held at the Cook County Jail on a $1 million bond and is next scheduled to appear in court July 31.

Andres Rivera, 29, of the 600 block of North Ashland; and Danielle Garcia, 31, of the 5200 block of South Kostner were each charged with one felony count of mob action. Rivera was ordered held on a $750,000 bond, and Garcia on $100,000.
