An Indiana man was charged with shooting someone during an attempted robbery on Monday in southwest suburban Willowbrook.

Jeremy H. Harris, of South Bend, Ind., is facing several charges, including attempted armed robbery, aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, according to the DuPage County sheriff’s office.

Authorities responded to the shooting about 9:15 p.m. in the 16w500 block of Honeysuckle Lane, according to the sheriff’s office.

The statement said Harris had attempted to rob the victim when his gun went off during a struggle. The person, whose age or gender has not been released, suffered non life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.

Harris fled but was arrested shortly after, the sheriff’s office said. He was scheduled to appear in bond court Thursday morning.
