CHICAGO — The Chicago Police Department said it has posted officers at all military recruiting stations and installations in the city.

Anthony Guglielmi, a spokesman for Supt. Garry McCarthy, said the move was made Thursday out of an abundance of caution.

The action comes in the wake of a gunman firing at a recruiting center and another U.S. military site a few miles apart in Chattanooga, Tennessee, killing at least four Marines.

Federal authorities said they were investigating the possibility it was an act of terrorism.

Guglielmi says there is no intelligence that an attack is Chicago is imminent or is being planned, but precautions are warranted.

Guglielmi said police officers will be stationed at the military sites indefinitely.
