SHARE 16-year-old boy killed in Belmont Cragin shooting identified

A teenage boy who was killed in a shooting that left another teen critically wounded in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood Wednesday evening has been identified.

The boys, ages 15 and 16, were in the 6100 block of West Fullerton about 5:45 p.m. when a gunman walked up and shot them, police said.

Both teens were taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, police said.

The older boy, identified as Jose Neri of the 2900 block of North Normandy, was pronounced dead at the hospital at 6:30 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The younger boy was listed in critical condition early Thursday.
