A man and woman were shot early Sunday in the South Side Washington Heights neighborhood.

The two were in an alley in the 9100 block of South Ashland a few minutes after 3 a.m. when someone walked up and fired shots, police said.

Both were taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

The 25-year-old man was shot in the buttocks and face and listed in serious condition, police said. The 30-year-old woman was shot in the right chest of the chest, and her condition had stabilized.
