His sitcom roles have been short-lived, so now South Sider Echo Kellum is taking a stab at superheroism.

The actor has been tapped to play Mr. Terrific on the CW’s hit “Arrow” next season, Variety reports. He’ll be the show’s first openly gay character, a tech savant named Curtis Holt who supervises Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards) at Palmer Technologies.

Kellum co-starred on Fox’s “Ben and Kate” and NBC’s “Sean Saves the World,” and had been cast in another CW show, “Dead People,” that ultimately was not picked up.

“Arrow” begins its fourth season Oct. 7.
