Police are warning Austin residents of a man on a bicycle who is robbing people at gunpoint in the West Side neighborhood.

The man rides up to victims on a bike, pulls out a handgun and demands cell phones, wallets, cash and jewelry, according to a community alert from Area North detectives.

The robberies happened in the 1700 block of North Lotus at 1:06 a.m. July 12; in the 1700 block of North Linder about 2 a.m. July 16; and in the 1600 block of North Linder at 2:08 a.m. July 17.

The suspect is described as a black man 22-35 with short hair, police said. He carries either a black or blue steel semi-automatic handgun.
