A man was shot early Sunday in the Wicker Park neighborhood.

The 40-year-old was standing on a sidewalk in the 1400 block of North Milwaukee about 1 a.m. when a gunman walked up and opened fire, police said.

He was shot in the upper left arm and taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition stabilized.

A police source said the man is a documented gang member.
