A 40-year-old man was shot to death Tuesday afternoon on the Near West Side, police said.

The shooting happened in the 400 block of South Paulina at 2:20 p.m., police said.

A 40-year-old man was shot in the chest and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality.

Police said a person of interest is being questioned.
