A teen has been charged with shooting another teen in a gang dispute Tuesday afternoon in the Southwest Side Gage Park neighborhood.

The 16-year-old was charged with aggravated battery/discharge of a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm at a vehicle, police said. His name was not released because he is a juvenile.

The victim, also 16, was in the 5800 block of South Troy about 2:40 p.m. when he was approached by several males who asked him about his gang affiliation, police said. One of the males pulled out a gun and fired a shot.

He was shot in the left leg and taken in good condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

Police said the victim is a documented gang member.

The teen was scheduled to appear in juvenile court Thursday, police said.
