A manwas shot and killed Tuesday morning in the South Shore neighborhood, police said, just two blocks away from the scene of a fatal shooting Monday.

About 9:45 a.m., aman in his 20s was standing in the 2000 block of East 79th Street when he was shot by two males standing across 79th Street, police said.

The manwas taken to Stroger Hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

The shooting scene was near Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, and just two blocks from where a 16-year-old boy was killed and a 17-year-old boy was seriously wounded in a shooting Monday.

That shooting occurred in the 7900 block of South Merrill about 5:30 p.m. when a red vehicle pulled up and a male suspect got out and shot the teens who were standing near the street, police said.
