SHARE Jake Arrieta shows off nasty curveball in win

Cubs pitcher Jake Arrieta recorded his ninth win of the season against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cubs pitcher went 6 2/3 innings, giving up two runs and striking out four.

Arrieta’s curveball was effective against the Cardinals, striking out three batters using the 12-to-6 curve.

In the top of the 2nd inning, Cardinals first baseman Mark Reynolds struck out looking against Arrieta’s nastiest curveball of the day.

Arrieta leads the Cubs in all the major pitching categories. He’s 9-5 with a 2.80 ERA and 114 strike outs, but the Cubs pitcher was snubbed from the All-Star team.
