The White Sox placed outfielder J.B. Shuck on the disabled list Saturday with a strained left hamstring and recalled pitcher Scott Carroll from Triple-A Charlotte.
Shuck was removed from Friday night’s game against the Yankees in the seventh inning, and manager Robin Ventura said a DL trip was possible.
“Coming into home plate he felt something,” Ventura said, “so we took him out as a precaution and then we’ll look at it in the morning. But him going off it didn’t look good.”
Shuck is hitting .278 with six doubles, a triple and 11 RBI over 54 games this season.
Carroll is 1-1 with a 3.28 ERA in 12 relief appearances during two separate stints with the White Sox this season.
