Police are warning residents about a pair of armed robberies reported last week in the Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side.

In both incidents, multiple people have approached victims, brandished a pocket knife or other metal object and, after a struggle, taken property and left the area, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

Both robberies occurred Aug. 5 in the 6300 block of South Cottage Grove, police said. The first was reported at 6:50 p.m., while the second occurred at 7:30 p.m.

The suspects are described as males between 17 and 25 years old, ranging from 5-foot-4 to 6-foot-1 and 135 to 190 pound, police said.

Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to contact Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8380.
