The Cubs have won six in a row and 12 of their last 13, and the rest of the league and media have taken notice.

The Cubs moved into the No. 5 spot of ESPN’s power rankings, up five spots from last week. And those rankings do not reflect the club’s last three wins.

After an impressive week of baseball against the Pirates and Giants, the Cubs enter a stretch of games on Tuesday that sees them play 13 in a row against sub-.500 teams. The problem? Sub-.500 teams have been the Achilles’ heel of the Cubs this season. If ever there were a time to pounce, this is it.

The Cubs haven’t entered the top five in any other media power rankings, but they are in the top 10 at Sports Illustrated, MLB.com, CBS and FOX, and are on the rise in all of them.

The Cubs entered the season at No. 20 on ESPN’s rankings.
