A Northwest Side man died Thursday of injuries he suffered in a traffic crash five days earlier in the Belmont Terrace neighborhood.

Gary Upchurch, 55, was involved in the automobile collision Aug. 8 near the intersection of North Cumberland Avenue and West Forest Preserve Drive, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

He died of complications of multiple injuries from the crash at 4:42 p.m. Thursday at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, authorities said. Heart disease also contributed to his death, which an autopsy on Saturday ruled an accident.

Upchurch lived in the 3500 block of North Pioneer Court, authorities said.

Chicago Police could not immediately provide details on the crash.
